Atromid-S Uses :
Atromid-S is used to reduce high cholesterol blood levels.
How to Use Atromid-S :
Atromid-S may be taken with food if stomach upset occurs. Take Atromid-S as directed. Do not increase your dose or stop taking this without first consulting your doctor.
Atromid-S Side Effects :
Stomach upset, nausea, loose stools, bloating, gas, dizziness, drowsiness or headache may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. Other side effects reported include mouth sores, dry or itchy skin, brittle hair, change in sex drive or decreased sexual function or muscle aches. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, an irregular heartbeat, severe stomach pains, vomiting, skin rash, breathing trouble, decreased urine output, blood in the urine, swelling of the feet or ankles, fever, chills, sore throat, weight gain, muscle aches/pain/weakness. Long-term use of Atromid-S may increase your risk of developing gallstones. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Atromid-S Precautions :
Tell your doctor if you have: kidney disease, liver disease, gallbladder disease or gallstones, heart disease, ulcers, any allergies. The manufacturer of Atromid-S states that clofibrate must not be used during pregnancy. Women of child-bearing age must use reliable birth control methods while using Atromid-S. Further, that if a pregnancy is planned, clofibrate should be stopped several months before becoming pregnant. Atromid-S passes into breast milk and must not be used while breast-feeding.
Atromid-S Interactions :
Use caution if the following drugs are combined with clofibrate because serious side effects such as muscle injury (myopathy) infrequently could occur: statins (e.g., lovastatin, atorvastatin), high-dose niacin (1 gram or more per day). Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take especially of: insulin, blood thinners, oral antidiabetic medication, probenecid. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Overdose of Atromid-S :
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Atromid-S :
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double-up the dose to catch up.
Storing Atromid-S :
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom.
